Here are a few of the “976-number” ads from The Megaphone Co. Besides the Michael Jackson Hotline they had ones that kept you up-to-date on General Hospital and All My Children, plus Sidney Omarr’s horoscope with a different phone number for each sign. Note that they don’t mention the cost of these calls very prominently- after kids ran up hundreds of dollars on phone bills calling numbers like these, these commercials had to say “Kids under 18, get your parents’ permission before calling!”
