I remember these books. They scared me to death. I still am afraid of these books and the funny thing is… I like scary stories.
Ugh, I had these books and they were reeeeally scary to a 10 year old girl. What was my mom thinking?
I loved these! Although I can contribute these stories to many sleepless nights!
Wow, the illustrations in those books scared me even in broad daylight xD
I completely forgot about these books! I always regretted reading them at age ten.
The pictures!!! Scared me, too!! They were grotesque! I remember once leaving that book in my mom’s car, and she insisted that before I went to bed, I gather up all of my school library books and put them in my backpack to take back in the AM. I refused to go into the dark garage and into the dark car to retrieve that book. Only on pain of grounding did I go get it. And then, b/c for some reason we didn’t have a light in the garage or the light was out, I insisted on opening the outside door next to the door into the house for some light from the sunset outside.
In fact, a couple of those stories still make me put the covers over my head if I’m in a weird mindset at night, and that’s with my husband snoring away next to me! Evil books. But SOOO much fun!!
the little black dog or whatever it was called was my favorite
Ok it says the third book was due to be released in 2011, yet I have a Scary Stories Treasury from 2002 which has all three books in it. Books included are: Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, and Scary Stories 3 More Tales to Chill Your Bones.
They had these in the library back in elementary school. …
Omg, I can’t believe these are on here. I have all of them. They had these in my elementary school library and all the book fairs. I had my mom get them because they had a deal to get all of them in a set for VERY cheap. I have them put away here at our house, I actually been trying to find them so I can read them again. My favorite stories are The Haunted House and The Red Spot.
