RollerCoaster Tycoon

funny rollercoaster tycoon computer game photo

RollerCoaster Tycoon is a construction and management simulation video game that simulates theme park management. Developed by MicroProse and Chris Sawyer and published by Hasbro Interactive, the game was released for Microsoft Windows on March 31, 1999 and was later ported to the Xbox game console.

If you haven’t played it, then here is a quick rundown. In a nutshell, you run an amusement park. You build the rides, set up concession stands, clean up trash left behind by customers, and hire people to walk around in furry costumes. You could also “kill” people by building the rides too high or not connecting pieces of a roller coaster. All in all, good fun.

  5. @ william, really, cool i used to drown them to(still do when i play the game, but first i’d put then in a holding pen. F.Y.I you can’t drown people on roller coaster tycoon 3 because they know how to swim, you can also unlease animals meant for display on the guests but they won’t eat them sadly. :-(

  7. Ah, the joy of RollerCoaster Tycoon. Another classic game! I played this game for HOURS. I like the third one where you can ride the rides, yet it seems to be missing so much from the first one. I feel like playing this game now…

  15. I still play this too as my kids got me addicted to it. I always felt guilty when someone drowned…guess that’s the Cathloic upbringing.

  17. I had a friend who built a fantastic Death Camp inside the park. Guests could enter but no exit (alive). He installed food booths, but no bathrooms, and had costume animal characters torment the victims. The best part was the observation tower he built to tease the guests with views of unattainable freedom.
Started to loose money at that point, but sadism is more fun than profits. Sometimes…
