How far we’ve come, or how cheap we’ve gone? I remember when televisions were made like this and were fine pieces of furniture. If the TV broke, you’d get it repaired for the fraction of the cost of a new one. Today, televisions are cheap and plastic looking and when they break, you toss them and buy a new one. So sad of a wasteful society we’ve become.
Everything is massed produced now a days to sell, sell, sell. Not last, last, last. I do believe growing up, we had this exact tv though. It lasted for years, and the wood was very pretty!
that’s why certain products a considerably cheaper now. if they were meant to last, they’d be far more expensive. personally, i’d rather spend that extra money on something that lasted for years.
i think the last thing i bought that’s actually lasted was a small tv, which i still have. had it since 1995 and still works like a charm.
I agree. I’d rather pay more for an item that will last than to pay less for an item that will break in a few years. In the long run, it works out to be more economical to spend more now for the quality item. But, in today’s society, it won’t happen. People want to save the buck NOW. If they’d do the math, they would see that in years to come, they will spend twice as much for the cheap item now than a quality item built to last.
My Grandparents had one just like the picture. It was then passed on to my parent’s, and we had it for years. Back in the day the knew how to make a quatlity product

that’s a big difference, BB. there was a time when you could actualy fix things and do so inexpensively. nothing lasts nearly as long, anymore.

I think my folks had one!!
I broke my little toe on our old TV when I was young, but I shouldn’t have been running in the house.
I still have one of these!! It’s in my basement den, and still works great!!

i remember a lot of people using these “pieces of furniture” as the stand for the new TV when the old one broke
