Any child deprived of a turtle sandbox should be rewarded with 10 as an adult. Lots of good times here.

My mom made my dad drill holes in the sandbox because she heard some urban legend about a child suffocating to death in one. This is the same mother who didn’t let me ride my bike on the street (even with a helmet) until I was almost in high school because some kids had been hit and killed by a speeding dump truck 20 years earlier. Ten miles away.
@Bob: Ah those overprotective memories! My mom tied strings onto Life Savers candy because she had heard of children choking on them. Just buying a Charms pop was out of the question.
Eeee! I think I still have my turtle sandbox somewhere. Oh I loved that thing! My mom was talking about turning it into a place to plant flowers. As long as she doesn’t destroy it. Now, I still see them but I also see red crab ones.
I had one too…It was called ‘sand turtle beach’. We moved away from the beach when I was little. It went along with the cozy car (red and yellow playskool car). Good times.
I had a sandbox like that and remember burying my barbies in the sand. I would also chase and beat my younger brother with the lid. Aaawwwww, childhood.

They were terrific! We got one for our girls; the top kept out the rain – and the neighborhood cats. Indestructable – our grandkids played in it, too.

I used to have one of those, then my younger sisters played with it, then it disappeared

I used to have one of these, brings back memories, sigh!

My turtle sandbox was actually a tiny wading pool. I remember playing with little toy dolphins and whales in it.
Our daughters have one on our porch.
